Steps to the right maps out your journey to a fulfilling avocation.
Step 1
- Fill out this form and you will receive an email with instructions on becoming an official and it will notify board 21 officials of your interest. Google Docs Form
Step 2
- By following the instructions in the information received, you will be directed to IAABOU where you will sign up for an online rules courses by IAABO
- The fees associated with this covers the cost of the courses and the cost to become an IAABO member.
- The rules course consists of 2 segments which Ideally are completed by November 1st of the year that a prospect wishes to begin officiating.

- Crew of 2 Training.
Step 3
- Upon completion of the two online courses, you will become an applicant of board 21. Instructions will be emailed to you on how to complete your registration online and the items below.
- Instructions and an invitation to complete the in-person portion of your training will be sent and will be considered a Cadet.
- The assigner will receive notification that you are now an applicant and will issue an invitation to arbiter.
- Instructions on what is required for purchasing a uniform.
- In person training will consist of:
- Mechanics, Signals, and Positioning. (Typically 2 – 3 dates in November or early December)
- Floor Education (Saturdays December and January)
- Floor Test (Saturdays December and January)
- All Cadets will be assigned a mentor to help them through the process.
- Cadets will begin to receive games.
