Officiating Rates 2025-2026

Crew of 2 varsity $98.00

Crew of 3 varsity $83.00

JV/Frosh $73.00


Mileage allowance $.54 per mile for all miles traveled. 


If an official rides with another official more than 100 miles (round trip), the following 3-tier rider fee will be utilized:

100-125 miles  $20.00

126-150 miles  $25.00

151+ miles  $30.00


Officials would be paid for any miles that they must drive to a central meeting point. No mileage will be paid for round trips for ten miles or less. Please try to ride with your partner if possible.

New Rates for 2026-2027

Crew of 2 varsity $100.00

Crew of 3 varsity $85.00

Uniforms

Uniform: The default uniform will be a Black and White shirt with 1 inch stripes with black dress slacks. The new shirt has the flag on the sleeve. See link to the right.

Gray uniforms may still be used if all members of a crew agree.  Otherwise, Black and White uniforms shall be used. 


Jackets:  The jacket will continue to be optional for crews beginning in pre-season through the end of the regular season.  The Jackets should only be worn if all members of a crew have them available.

Department of Education Certification & Background Check

The Maine Principals' Association, per our contract agreement, requires that all high school/middle school sports officials have a background check

Further, the background check must be done utilizing the Maine Department of Education system that requires that you be fingerprinted as part of the process. You must use the system as defined by the DOE:

→ It does not matter if you have been fingerprinted before.

→ It does not matter if you have had a background check before.

Note: It is YOUR responsibility to provide the appropriate information to the secretary/treasurer.
Step 1: Create a MEIS account (or log-in with an existing account)
Step 2: Apply for a background check
  • Follow these instructions to apply for a criminal history record check (CHRC) on the Maine Department of Education site.
  • After you click "Submit Application", continue to Step 3: Schedule an appointment for fingerprinting.
Step 2b: Apply for background check.(For those who are unable to create a MEIS account only.)
  • Download this form   CHRC Application
  •  Mail Completed Application to address on form with $15 or CC info.
  • Continue to Step 3: Schedule an appointment for fingerprinting.

Step 3: Schedule an appointment for fingerprinting
  • Go to IdentoGO site to schedule an appointment for fingerprinting.
  • Select Agency Name: Department of Education
  • 2-3 business days after your fingerprint appointment, continue to Step 4: Provide proof of certification to the Secretary.
Step 4: Provide proof of certification to the Secretary
Finally, once you have completed the process, you must provide the information to the Secretary/Treasurer. The State will no longer mail out background check certifications.
  • To check on the status of your application, go here:   https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/status
  • Choose Login to my MEIS Account.
  • Enter the required information.
  • Click on the "EDU-Educator" line.

  • On the next page, click the "View Your Credentials Here" box.

  • On the next page showing your newly-issued credentials, print, screenshot, or Print to PDF. A completed credentials should show your name, which is at the top, along with the section called "Certificates and Endorsements" with an effective date in the current year and an expires date 5 years from now.
  • Attach the completed credentials in a email to IAABO21 Secretary Bob King (bobkbk1959@gmail.com).
Step 4a: Provide proof of certification to the Secretary For those who chose step 2a.
Finally, once you have completed the process, you must provide the information to the Secretary/Treasurer. The State will no longer mail out background check certifications.
